Its been cold and rainy today and that's put me into my fall/winter baking mode. I have a ton of new dessert recipes I want to try but stuck with a tried and true recipe today - Mint Chip Cookies I just took my basic cookie recipe and added in 1 cup of Andes Mint Chips (Eddie's Favorite) - easy and simple but still delicious Mint Chip Cookies Ingredients: 1 cup butter 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 3 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt 1 cup Andes Mint Chips Directions: 1) Pre Heat oven to 350 degrees 2) Cream butter and sugars 3) Add Egg and vanilla 4) Add Flour  (1 cup at a time), baking soda, and salt 5) Mix in Mint Chips 6) Spoon onto cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes TIP: For an Easy Dessert Later I scooped up the extra cookie dough and stuck it in the freezer -- Once Frozen place into a Ziplock bag and cook 1 or more as wanted

Best Burger in Utah: Crown Burger

Image
A few weeks ago my brother Josh posted an article from businessinsider.com on facebook showing the Best Burgers state by State. Being that we are on the search for the Best Burger Utah me and Eddie decided to take a look at the article. We have had Crown Burger before and didn't think much of it - truthfully it tasted like Burger King and not anything special. But then Crown Burger Came up again on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dive on Food Network and Guy Fieri couldn't stop raving about the Pastrami Burger and then Eddie over heard a few people talk about So that was it . . . Eddie gave the Pastrami Burger a Try The Drive Thru was crazy packed but the line went by fast - I ordered a Pastrami Burger Combo AKA "Crown Burger" and brought it home for Eddie to try It doesn't look like the picture from the Article but WOW!!! So much flavor and so much meat . . . The Pastrami on this burger gives their Cheeseburger everything that it was missing before an

Best Burger in Utah: Millie's Burgers

Image
Thanks to a suggestion from a friend our Best Burger in Utah search continues with Millie's Burgers in Sugarhouse This tiny little burger place has only about 4 or 5 tables inside but was slam packed and super busy with people coming in and out. We ordered out Bacon Cheese Burgers Plain and waited while Eddie enjoyed a Mint Chocolate Milkshake and I had a diet coke. As soon as our food was ready it brought to our table and we brought it home to enjoy This was a classic American Cheese Burger super greasy and Good meat it was just missing a little bit of seasoning but was overall a great burger! The fries were a little soggy and I had to crisp them up in the oven a bit but this isn't a fry competition so we didn't let that affect our rating  Overall, the burger wasn't good enough to beat out the top competitors (Smash Burger and Bohemian) but was definitely a burger we'd eat again  RATING Millie's Burger: 4/5 Stars

Best Burger in Utah: Olympus Burgers

Image
Our first stop searching for the best burger in Utah was Olympus Burgers in Murray Found based off of their Yelp rating of 4/5 stars and positive reviews on other sites we decided to give it a try. Its a small little drive thru that makes a little bit of everything but with Burgers in their name we weren't worried . . . however we should have been We got our food a brought it home and they broke RULE #2: we ordered our burgers PLAIN just meat and cheese but yet they were covered in fry sauce and topped with all the topping I tried salvaging the burger to give them a fair shot but with all the sauce they put on it and sauce on both sides there was no help for the poor little burger These guys ended up in the trash without even 1 bite taken RATING Olympus Burgers = TOTAL FAIL 0/5 stars Best Burger in Utah still stands: Smash Burger and Bohemian

Best Burger in Utah

Image
A few weeks ago Eddie decided to recorded all of the Simpsons episodes during the 12 day marathon. In turn we were out of a tv for 12 days and decided to start How I Met your Mother on Netflix since neither of us have watched the show before. Season 4 Episode 2 is all about finding the best burger in New York City This got us thinking. . . Where is the best burger in Utah? As of Now there are two that are tied: Best Burger : Smash Burger Best Garlic Burger : Bohemian We are judging on two separate but equally important factors 1) Taste (duh!) 2) Getting our Order Correct (Nothing Eddie hates more than getting food that wasn't made the way he ordered it) The search is on - Hopefully Utah is ready for us!

Recipe FAIL: 2 ingredient Brownies

Image
Floating around Pinterest and Facebook has been a recipe for 2 ingredient brownies Eddie loves Brownies so I figured I would give it a shot . . . of course i added in Mint Chocolate Chips cause if i didn't eddie would know something was up but even that didn't work . . .  Eddie took one bite and spit it right out "What is in this?" he replied . . . I said I just tried a new recipe but secret is now out . . . it was Pumpkin! You really can't taste the pumpkin these tasted like mint chocolate brownies but the pumpkin really gives it a gummy pudding like texture which we didn't like here at all but the recipe overall gets really good review so if you still want to try it here you go Ingredients: Brownie Mix Can of Pumpkin Directions 1) Pre Heat Oven to 350 degrees 2) Mix Ingredients together 3) Bake for 30 minutes
